It is April 28, 2026. With the Corporate Transparency Act deadlines looming, FinCEN has issued a critical warning: scammers are sending sophisticated, AI-generated emails and letters requesting “payment” for Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) filings.
1. Identifying the “FinCEN Scam”
- The Fact: There is NO FEE to file your BOI report directly with FinCEN.
- The Red Flags: FinCEN does not send unsolicited emails asking you to click a URL or scan a QR code. If they ask for money, it’s 100% a fraud.
- The Shark Insight: “Scammers are using the same tech we use (Article #544) to create ‘Official-Looking’ PDFs. If you receive a letter from ‘FinCEN’ asking for $250 to ‘register your LLC,’ shred it. Use the official FinCEN.gov portal only. This is the simplest way to save your LLC $250 and prevent a total data breach.”
