It is April 19, 2026. The technical gap between LLCs that use AI and those that don’t is widening every day. To prevent a “digital divide,” the federal government has introduced two massive incentives this quarter under the AI for Main Street Act.
If you or your team enrolls in accredited AI training this month, the cost is not only deductible—it might be completely covered by Uncle Sam.
1. The $3,500 AI Training Voucher
For LLCs with fewer than 50 employees, the SBA has launched a direct voucher program.
- The Deal: You can receive up to $3,500 per employee to cover the cost of SBA-approved AI training programs.
- Eligible Courses: This includes certifications from Google Digital Garage, Microsoft Learn, and accredited community colleges.
- The ROI: If you have 5 employees, that’s $17,500 in high-end education at zero cost to your LLC’s cash flow.
2. The 35% “AI Adoption” Tax Credit
If you prefer to bring in private consultants to train your team on a custom-built Micro-SaaS (see Article #409), the OBBBA Section 139L applies:
- The Credit: You get a 35% tax credit on all “Qualified AI Adoption Expenses,” which includes software subscriptions and short-term training consulting.
- The Cap: Up to $50,000 per year in credits.
- The Math: If you spend $10,000 this quarter on a specialist to automate your LLC’s workflow, you get $3,500 back as a direct credit on your tax return.
3. The “Section 127” Expansion for 2026
The standard Section 127 (Educational Assistance) has been “AI-boosted” this year.
- Tax-Free Benefits: You can provide up to $5,250 per year in tax-free educational assistance per employee.
- The 2026 Twist: In April 2026, the IRS clarified that this includes hardware and books specifically for Prompt Engineering and Machine Learning Fundamentals, even if the training is for a “future role” within the company.
Your April 19 Training Strategy
- Audit Your Team’s “AI Literacy”: Use the free SBA “AI-Readiness” tool to see where your team is lacking.
- Apply for Vouchers Early: The $3,500 vouchers are awarded on a “first-come, first-served” basis each quarter. Since it’s only April 19, there is still budget available for Q2.
- Tag as “Working Condition Fringe Benefit”: If the training is directly related to their current job, it’s 100% deductible for the LLC and tax-free for the employee.
In 2026, the most dangerous thing for your LLC is an employee who doesn’t know how to use AI. Use the OBBBA to turn your staff into “Super-Users” on the government’s dime.
